One Corinne Day

Flicking through my sister's old editions of Vogue and The Face, it was always Corinne Day's shoots I looked to for inspiration back in my design diploma days.

They weren't always particularly glamorous, but they were beautiful and 'brutally honest' as the critics would say. Often 'too brutal' in some cases, but that was the whole appeal.

For the past ten years Corinne has been battling against a severe brain tumour. The NHS treatment she received had been unsuccessful and her health was deteriorating...fast. Friends and work colleagues (inc. Kate Moss) formed the Save the Day campaign to raise money for Day to get specialist surgery in Arizona. Limited edition prints of Corinne's work were auctioned off to help pay for her trip.

Corinne made it to Arizona. She received her treatment just before Christmas last year. However, sadly it has been found today that Corinne Day has died.

Here are the various (and my favourite) works of Corinne Day:

Missed Maison Martin Margiela

Unfortunately I missed my chance of seeing the latest Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at Somerset House.

My recent visit to London consisted of manning the Northumbria stand for fear of my Final Major Project getting pinched. Turns out it didn't get taken (so I could have trotted off to the Strand). No, instead it chose to be pinched back in Newcastle. Whoever believed that my 'final piece' was the actual Northumbria prospectus owes me £100 in printing costs, please.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

I'm in my final (and dreaded) year at university, working on the biggest project of them all; The Final Major Project. Yes, title case was needed. And yes, the word 'Major' is always used in this project to terrify us students even more.

So of course, as if I wasn't stressed enough, I’ve chosen a rather large and complex concept. I'm to produce a magazine-style fashion prospectus for my university.
All photography and articles within this will be my own so I'm preparing myself for many sleepless nights (sort of).

The Beginning

'I will no longer be carrying around photo ID. Know why? People should know who I am' Sue Sylvester, Glee

I've chosen to set up a brand spanking new blog - my very first. It's a chance to display my work, and anything else that takes my fancy. It might be interesting, it might not. But here goes...
